After years of exposure to rain and freezing temperatures, masonry chimneys inevitably deteriorate and require repairs in order to function properly. Often homeowners call and think they have a problem with their roof, when really the problem is with the chimney.
Semper Fi Roofing & Exteriors offers free inspections for masonry chimneys to determine the true source of any leaks or water damage you may be experiencing.
Tuck-pointing is often the first step to solve early water penetration and restore structural integrity. Loose and cracked mortar joints are ground out and re-filled with fresh mortar. This is called tuck-pointing or re-pointing.
If your chimney has cracked or split bricks, the repair process may require more work. In these cases, we remove damaged or cracked chimney bricks by grinding out any failing mortar and then gently removing the damaged bricks. These bricks are then replaced with a new brick and fresh mortar is applied.
If the damage is extensive a complete chimney rebuild may be necessary. Depending on your situation, we can either do a partial rebuild or a complete rebuild as needed. Loose and deteriorated brick is removed until there is solid masonry and then the chimney areas are rebuilt with new brick and mortar.
Your chimney crown is the very top of your chimney and it’s the first structure that gets exposed to rain and freezing temperatures. These freeze and thaw cycles will deteriorate the crown over time. Unfortunately, crowns are often constructed from left-over mortar materials so chimney crowns may be weakened from the start. Depending on the damage to your chimney crown it can either be replaced or if there is less damage it may be possible to seal the existing chimney crown.
In some cases, we have to replace the entire chimney crown with freshly poured concrete. This not only secures the entire chimney top, but sheds water and protects the chimney masonry beneath the crown.

In addition to roofing and gutters, they also installed gutter guards and siding on our garage. Our project was split up on different days due to team availability. The project manager, Brad, did a wonderful job keeping us informed. I would strongly recommend this company to anyone.
We discovered cinder blocks missing under our garage wall and do some landscaping issues, water was pouring in the space. We called Semperfi about something else and discovered they did mason work. He came out the next day gave us a good quote and was able to adjust staff to do the next day. Looks great and very much appreciate.
